How do you deal with crowded places?

Love people! The more the merrier
Don't mind people, but I try to avoid the largest crowds
I can't stand crowded places
Crowds are okay as long as everyone behaves

What kind of landscape do you want to see in China?

Wild and inhospitable natural terrain that influences the lives of the people residing there
I would love to see and experience the rice terraces
Nature is great as a backdrop, but it's the people and culture I want to know
City landscape! Modern skyscrapers and neon lights

How interested are you in the religious practices of the places you visit?

Very interested, it's one of my reasons for traveling
As part of the overall experience, I don't mind learning more
My interest is more about the historical and cultural impact of religion
Not at all. People can do and think whatever they want for me

Your idea of the ultimate trip includes…

everything worth seeing, I'm not leaving until I have crossed everything off the list
the most famous sights only, with the rest of the time spent outdoors
the minimum amount of temples and more city life
going where few other tourists go

How important are luxurious hotels, fancy restaurants and hot nightclubs for your travel experience?

Not important! I want to see authentic Chinese life, not Western imports. A simple guesthouse will do just fine
With jet lag and days spent discovering thousands of years of culture and history I don't give nightlife a high priority. A decent tourist hotel is fine
I love a touch of decadence, where I stay, eat and party!
Don't need anything fancy, but a few places to hang out with fellow travelers in the evening would be nice

How important is it to stay active while on holiday?

Moving from sight to sight is enough for me
My trip has to include some hiking or other outdoor adventures
Is shopping considered working out?
I like to exercise both my body and my mind, also when I travel

What kind of evening performance would you sign up for?

Peking opera and Chinese acrobatics
Folk performance of song and dance
Observing evening prayers in a temple
The hottest international DJs

How interested are you in history?

A time machine is on the top of my wish list! I love hearing the stories and seeing the sites with my own eyes.
A short history lesson here and there is okay, I am more interested in the scenery
I want to learn more in order to understand why things are as they are today
Yaaawn, history is not my thing. I prefer the modern world

When you travel you…

eat as much exotic food as possible - Snake, silk worms and fried crickets - bring it on!
eat with the locals, whatever they are having
local and international food, preferable with ingredients I recognize
only go to nice restaurants with menus in English

If you could travel back in time to China you would…

visit an imperial palace and take part in the luxurious life behind the walls
be a simple farmer or fisherman surrounded by beautiful landscape
witness the busy life along the Silk Road
take part in the swinging, decadent lifestyle of the 1920s
